On the 22nd July 4 female Wigan Warriors season ticket holders from Littleborough will walk 26.4 miles from the club to the DW Stadium in Wigan.

The girls will leave LRUFC at 9am on the 22nd July 2016 and plan to get to the DW at about 7pm. This is derby day with Wigan facing rival neighbours St Helens with an expected capacity crowd.

The girls will be welcomed onto the pitch at half time to present former Wigan player now Trustee of State of Mind Danny Sculthorpe with a cheque for the money raised.

All 4 girls play for Littleborough at under 18s and Under 15s as well as following Wigan Warriors at every game.

The idea for the walk was birthed from the youngest of the four, Georgia Turner. The second row at under 15s for her club, county and North of England wanted to help raise money for State of Mind, the charity her mum Clair Carson is a Trustee for, as well as for a cancer charity in memory of her Great Grandfather.

Her sister Olivia Turner and two friends from the club, Olivia Frian and Megan Dickinson agreed to undertake this challenge with her and they have been training most nights for the last month in order to be able to complete this mammoth task.

The girls, their parents and members of their club at LRUFC have been promoting the challenge via social media and on the club website as well as their own just giving pages and have so far had over £600 pledged in donations, the girls are hoping to increase this as they lead up to the challenge day.

There are two dedicated just giving sites for the two chosen charities:

All at LRUFC, friends and families of the girls involved are very proud of their challenge and hope that everyone can get behind them and support these worthy causes that the girls are working so hard to help.
