Despite an early lead, East Preston scored late on to win Easter Monday's exciting derby clash 3-2

On a lovely spring morning at the Lashmar, a decent crowd were treated to an enjoyable local derby match between arguably two of the best teams in the Sussex County Football League.
Ben Gray put Littlehampton 1-0 up in the 7th minute, but first Darren Boswell (with an excellently struck free-kick) and Evan Archibald put the home team in front, taking advantage of a couple of mid-field errors from Littlehampton Town.
Yet Golds weren't out of this contest and came out in determined mood at the start of the second half. In the closing minutes of the game Littlehampton were awarded a penalty, that Mitchell Hand cooly converted. And then - heartbreak! - when Joe Shelley struck the ball that hit the left-hand upright and bounced into the net. The champions had beaten their near neighbours and with East Grinstead winning, it places Golds third in the Division One table with just a week or so of the season remaining.
