Lucky number 13 for Littlemore
The Littlemore Locomotive keeps on rolling with dominant display
Six months since the BBO Championship campaign got under way and we can still say that we are enjoying a fantastic start to the season. An 18 try, 10 conversion, demolition of a team that were until today unbeaten in 2017 demonstrates the incredible belief this group of players have in themselves and each other.
Despite the arctic conditions Littlemore managed to put together a comprehensive display of flowing rugby so relentless in its success Aldermaston were largely left chasing shadows. Four tries for the industrious Cameron Bashford; a hat trick from hard working Tom Elliott; braces for try machine Adam Berg, the influential Jamie Kirkaldy and skipper Rich Tattersall and individual meat pies for Rhys Painton, Stewart Beale, Ben Symington, Aaron Ward and Jonny Williams, who also slotted 10 conversions, suggest that forwards and backs combined well to ensure the maximum return of 5 league points.
That is not to say Littlemore had it all their own way, with a total of 20 minutes where our defence was put to the test as the visitors tried in vain to register a score which would have been just reward for their efforts. No one exemplified the character and commitment that we are developing more than Stewart Beale. After the majority of the Littlemore cover were left for dead following a great break from the Aldermaston winger, Beale sprinted 70 metres to pull off a try saving tap-tackle. For this, as well as his all round positive contribution, he was named Man of the Match in a game where all 21 players that took the field put in man of the match performances.
With other results today going very much against the form book we are extremely fortunate to have a 15 point cushion between us and second placed Wheatley with a game in hand.
Whilst the win today will be well celebrated we will reconvene on Tuesday night to prepare fully and focus on job number 14, next weekend's trip to Berkshire Shire Hall.
