Liversedge hope to bring in some new faces to freshen up their squad ahead of tomorrow's tough NCEL game at home to Barton Town Old Boys,kick-off 3pm.
Already on board at Clayborn is defender Simon Wood who has re-signed for the club from local rivals Brighouse Town,he will be best remembered at Liversedge for his efforts in the team's extended FA Cup run in 2004,Woody's Sedge career P107 S6 G1.
Other players expected to sign at last night's(Thursday)training session were striker James Riordan and Stacey Gott,both well known locally playing for St John Fisher in the Heavy Woollen Sunday League.
Riordan played for Liversedge as a junior and has played at a higher level with Garforth Town,Riordan's Sedge career P39 S8 G6.
Another possible new signing is Matthew Harding,who is serving in the Army and has recently been posted to Harrogate -he is known to Liversedge manager Billy Miller.
Phil Mitchell is another player Liversegde hope to sign having had previous experience playing with Wakefield.
Thay are expected to join Rob Boardman who re-joined the club last Friday.
He made an appearance at Thackley last Saturday and joined his brother David at the club.
Two Under 19s players,Matty Thompson and Andy Clarke,were also signed for the first team and started on the bench on Saturday.
Manager Billy Miller explained:"We needed to freshen things up a bit and bring in some new faces."
Miller sounds a note of caution to the potential signings when he says that though they have spoken to the players and they have said they will join they still to turn up at training and complete the signing on forms.
"Simon Wood joined us on Monday and will be a good addition at the back as we have lost Darryl Leach for some weeks as he had to have 14 stitches in a cut in last Saturday's game,he will be a big loss."
The club has also lost Brook Newton for the rest of the season as he is having cruciate knee ligament surgery.
Everyone at Liversedge was disappointed by a poor defensive display at Thackley last week which saw them lose 4-0 with all the goals being scored in the first 33 minutes.
Miller remarked:"To be fair to Thackley they played well and came at us from the start but we were really poor in the first half.
"At half-time we told them the game was gone and it was a matter of personal pride,they seemed to do better and despite Thackley taking their foot off the pedal we managed to hold them."
Miller admits that Liversedge will need to be at the top of their game in the coming weeks.
"We always know January would be a difficult mouth for us we are up against the top teams but there is no pressure on us and we will be looking to raise our game."
Tomorrow's opponents Barton are on a terrific run of form and having lost only one of their last eight league mathces.
Next Saturday January 21,Liversedge travel to high fliers Parkgate before finishing off thier game against Tadcaster Albion,who are currently third in the Premier Division table.
Miller concluded:"In football you always get a chance to put things right,that is what we have to do,starting with the match against Barton.
