Liversedge 0v1 Arnold Town
Sedge:
Eagles:James Leggitt 43
While Liversedge had a highly successful day off the pitch,on it proved something of a damp squib as they slipped to a disappointing defeat in front of their biggest crowed of the season.
Over 300 were in attendance as part of last Friday's Ground Hop Day in the NCEL Premier Division but the two teams failed to serve up a thriller for the spectators.
Chances were few and far between as James Leggitt's strike on two minutes before half-time was enough to see Arnold take all three points.
Goalkeeper Danny Knight spilled a shot and after the ball bobbled round,Leggitt unleashed a fierce shot into the net.
Liversedge had strong claims for handball waved away after 60 minutes when a cross appeared to hit a defender on the arm.
The home side's best chance came 10 minutes from time when Paddy McGuire unleashed a shot which appeared destined for the top corner but James Hurtley attempted to head it beyond the goalkeeper but could only direct it over the crossbar.
Liversedge:Knight,Wood,White,Lawlor,Riordan,Hopkins(capt),
R.Bordman(Hurtley 78),McGuire,D.Bordman,Cartman,Hallam(Larkin 86).
