Managers thoughts ahead of new season.

Its all change at Llandyrnog United this season, after a disappointing season last year the club were left with the possibility of folding altogether but with big changes off the pitch,a new committee has taken charge of the Welsh Alliance Division One side. We caught up with new First Team Manager Ryan Harden ahead of the new 2016/17 campaign.

"Management wasn't something I was really considering at the end of last season but circumstances at the club meant we needed someone who knew the players from last season and could convince them to stay as well as being able to bring in his own players.
The new chairmen and committee thought I'd be the best person for the job at time and I decided I was happy to take on the challenge. I'm obviously going to need a lot of help this season so I moved quickly to bring in the best people I could.

Firstly Jamie Hulse who has a huge amount of respect from everyone at the club for the work he did in the 2nd half of last season. I was delighted when he decided to return to the club.
His brother Simon has also joined the management team. Si has been a very good player for a number of years but is also an excellent young coach who has been working with Denbigh and will be an asset to us both on and off the pitch.
Between the three of us we should have some great experience of Cymru and Welsh Alliance football and hopefully know some fantastic local players.
Pete Lloyd was our final addition and he has come in a Physio. He's a qualified first aider and knows the club well after working here for a number of years, he's also great to have around in the dressing room. He'll be a big help to us this season.

I'm more than happy with the squad we have managed to assemble over the last month taking us into the season. I've managed to keep nearly all the players I wanted to from last season and the quality of the players we've managed to bring in have exceeded our expectations. Mark Roberts joining from Denbigh was a huge signing for us and is sure to get plenty of goals this season while Sam Lewis, another Denbigh signing has got to be one of the biggest talents around at the moment so it's great that he chose to come play for us. Also joining us this year are Miles Todd and Liam Jones who will be crucial to our campaign, while holding on to Dan Porter after some strong competition will prove to be vital.

We understand it's going to be difficult without a Reserve side this year and we will have to rely on a lot of luck with injuries and suspensions with a relatively small squad.

The club has struggled in this league for a number of years and we have to consider ourselves lucky to still be in it after finishing in the bottom two last season. It's therefore important for the club to have a good stable season and with the quality we have in the squad a top half finish and some decent cup runs should be a realistic target for us.
I have strong beliefs in how I want us to play and hopefully the lads will buy into it. I want us to be a good team to watch and hopefully that will lead to getting some good crowds back at Cae Nant.
The squad is 95% local players so we hope the village gets behind us and we look forward to an exciting season."

Llandyrnog's first game of the season will be Friday the 12th when they host local rivals St Asaph at Cae Nant in a 6.30 KO.
