Take the time machine back to 2000 for this week's throwback Thursday, also: Injury updates, Dinner, wristbands, reviews, curry night...

CURRY NIGHT MONDAY
- £12 at the Sultan Resturant

Welcome to another news round up and Throwback Thursday

The most pressing thing at the club at the moment is the well being of two club stalwarts: After Simon Jenkins broke his leg against Betws, fellow Warrior Alun Stephens joined him on the ward after dislocating a knee against the Swansea Vikings. Both have undergone operations and Simon finally left hospital last week. Big Al is off to Morriston today and we await more news, also happy birthday for last week Al. Both have played over 100 matches for the Warriors, Alun injured on his 150th appearance, so no need to elaborate on how sorely they will be missed. All at the Warriors wish you both a speedy full recovery.

The game with the Vikings was another tough match and the Warriors lost again, this time 10-29. The match center, with report, stats and photos is to be found here: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/llanelliwarriorsrfc/teams/3612/match-centre/0-3435399

Thanks to all who came to the monthly disco last night, another successful evening and the fundraising evening held on the Friday again at Felinfoel RFC. Held in conjunction with the Carmarthenshire Branch of the National Autistic Society all monies raised will be shared between the two organisations.

THIS MONDAY (26th): we have another curry night, £12 (children half price)

The new Warriors wrist bands are now on sale - £2 each.

Player/Coach Gwilym Lewis will this season be sponsored by Ruby’s Bar in Llanelli. Steve Dunne of Ruby’s said he was delighted to sponsor such a good cause as the Warriors. As a former Coach and team mate of Gwilym’s Steve knew he was getting a value for money deal as long as Gwilym’s knees last the season.
You can support the club through sponsorship with various options to suit every pocket. Here is the link to the full range of options:
Of course all money at the moment is going towards the Fiji trip – check out the details here: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/llanelliwarriorsrfc/news/fiji-tour-details-1-1666412.html

Other bits: We are looking for jerseys and paraphernalia to go in a soon to be built trophy cabinet. If you have something you think may be of interest then please speak to Gwilym Lewis ASAP.

Other fixtures are hopefully being arranged with Llandybie, Croeserw, Swansea Gladiators, Gwlad.com and various other teams.

Player profiles are in the process of being updated on the site, please complete player registration forms to make sure all details are up to date.

Training this week. But look out for fixture news soon!

This week’s Throwback is from 5th August 2000 when the Warriors faced the Gladiators to open Rupert Moon’s testimonial match. It counted as the Warriors last game of the 99/00 season for some reason and they were able to win the game in front of a large partisan crowd at Stradey Park. A good day was followed by a good night with Dai Cow’s ‘Hen night’. Although Dai never (yet?!!) played for the Warriors he was in the club’s circle at the time. As well as the Warriors match the day saw Rupert Moon’s 2000 Llanelli team play matches against select teams from the 70s, 80s and 90s featuring a host of Scarlet Legends. Dai Spriggs kicked several conversions for the 2000 side and a jersey from the 1990s team is one of those collected for the new Warriors cabinet. Anyway, a brief match report and some photos of the day are here: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/llanelliwarriorsrfc/teams/3612/match-centre/0-3518928
