WRU hold on for victory
A prestigious fixture but another loss for the battling Warriors
The Warriors put in another good performance but suffered another loss back at Llandaf RFC.
The 2nd in a series to try and instigate a mixed ability side in Cardiff the Warriors this time faced a WRU Community Team which included various development officers. Again it was a much reshuffled team with Jonathan Kearney and Nathan Lawson forming an all new centre partnership and Ben Win moving in to outside half. Yanis Whitley continued his development at prop and Simon Day made his 50th appearance on the wing.
The various changes meant that there was little advantage in terms of familiarity for the Warriors and the Union side were able to exploit this. p front though, the pack was much more settled and with Davies doing well in the air, Hall and Haines showed what strong carriers they are.
The Union side stretched away though and held the advantage throughout, but the Warriors had their moments and showed their own abilities in an enjoyable encounter. Nathan Lawson led the Warriors scoring with 2 well taken tries, Mark Lewis crashed over, Tom Hall wriggled in and Andrew Davies got a try to go with 2 conversions. Pollitt and Williams also scored conversions.
The most important thing though was to show how positive integrated rugby can be and that was accomplished without question. (Anyone Cardiff based looking to get involved should contact Llandaff RFC)
