Warriors edge past Betws
Warriors edge an exciting encounter at Betws
The most incredible thing about this game was that it happened.
Answering an SOS call, the Llanelli Warriors ruched together a team in 3 hours to make sure Betws 2nds got a fixture after they were let down on the morning of the game.
The late confirmation of the match meant both sides were missing several players but the resulting game was a live wire affair with plenty of skills on show.
Tomos Hall drove over for an early Warriors score after good work at a ruck but the rest of the scores came from open field play as both sides spun the ball with abandon.
Simon Day found some open space to show of his speed and deserved his score whilst Gareth Lewis got the pick of the home teams. Kallum Morgan had a debut to remember, scoring two tries whilst his brother slotted two conversions under the watchful eye of Father Derrick who was refereeing the contest.
Jamie Evans completed the Warriors scoring but Lloyd Crawley was named man of the match for a busy game and some dominant line out work.
The rushed nature of the fixture meant that nobody remembered it was a Lewi Cup fixture until afterwards but the Warriors retain the Cup with their 2nd win.
The teams will meet again on Boxing Day.
