Llanfair have won the ER Jenkins Cup after overcoming opponents Rhosgoch 2-0 in a hard fought final. Two goals from Geraint Jones
in the first half were enough to take the trophy back to Llanfair.
Llanfair began the game strongly with the majority of the possession. Lee Andrew
's deep passes were causing Rhosgoch problems and it was from one of these that created a chance for Geraint Jones
who cooly took on the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the empty net. After the goal, Rhosgoch stepped up their game and caused Llanfair a few problems for the rest of the half. Towards the end of the half, against the run of play, Geraint Jones
popped up at the back post to fire past the Rhosgoch keeper to make it 2-0.
The second half was a scrappy affair full of hard challenges and comitted tackles but very few chances. Llanfair's best second half chance fell to Daniel Jones
who put his header wide from close range. With 20 minutes left on the clock, Llanfair were reduced to ten men when Steve Andrew
was dismissed for violent conduct. Llanfair held strong and defended well to see out the game. Unfortunatly the game ended on a sour note when Richard Ainsley
who had been fantastic all afternoon was sent off with a second yellow card with seconds left.
However, the incidents didn't spoil the celebrations at the final whistle. All the lads enjoyed the moment after capturing the club's first cup win since 2003. A fantastic effort by all, ensuring that the club finish on another high at the end of a successful season.
