Llanfair edge tight contest on Mount Field
On a cold afternoon on a sticky pitch, Llanfair were victorious against a resolute Bow Street side thanks to goals by Andrew and Phil Hughes
In the first half, Llanfair came close when Andrew Hughes raced through only to put his effort wide of the post. Bow Street then piled pressure on Llanfair, coming close on numerous occasions.
However it was Llanfair who took the lead after a good team move saw Paul Griffiths slide in Andrew Hughes down the left wing who crossed low into the box for his cousin Phil Hughes to tap in at the back post.
Bow Street reacted well though and were soon level, scoring from a corner.
In the second half, Llanfair started brightly and took the lead when a right wing Paul Griffiths free kick found Andrew Hughes at the back post who slotted the ball home for 2-1.
Llanfair saw the game out well, Bow Street coming very close to an equaliser when an effort deflected onto the cross bar.
Bow Street again next week, in the league, 2.00pm kick off.
