CHAIRMAN'S NOTES - 2011/12
This season we are entering our 8th year in Division One. Last season we celebrated our 125th year with a dinner at Parc Y Scarlets and a game against the Crawshays. May I thank all concerened who arranged and made a great success of those events. May I take this opportunity to offer a warm and sincere welcome to all Vice Presidents, Patrons, Sponsors, Members, away supporters and everyone from our Junior section.
Last season on the playing field was once again consolidation for our first team in Division One West of the Swalec Leagues. Having finished 8th in the table I think this season will be a challenging one due to the re-structuring of the leagues next season with the introduction of a Championship league between the semi-pro's and Division One. The Development team finished top half of the very competitive Carmarthenshire Tyres League and hopefully this season can improve to obtain a top 3 position. Our Youth team last season won the Scarlets Region Division One league and once again this season seem to have a good side.
Our coaching staff this season is once again head coach Barry Williams together with John Davies in the backs, and Wayne Williams and Huw Cartwright with the development and youth teams. Team Manager this season is Alan Webb for the first team and Peter Comley with the Youth.
The Club Chairman of the Junior Section is our ex front-row forward Stewart Dow, and Vice-Chairman Daryl Richards. This season we are fielding seven Junior teams which is highly commendable and a credit to everyone involved. May I thank all the Junior coaches and committee for their continuing support.
I wish to thank Alex Lewis for his contribution to the club Web page. Alex keeps it updated with information about teams, social events, etc. Our social club although seen a downturn in sales over the past season keeps thriving with social events from all our members.
Finally may I show my appreciation to our Club President, Richard Phillips and all my loyal Officers and Committee for their continual commitment which make Llangennech RFC such a great club to lead.
