Milford Haven 6 – Llangwm 3
Mariners gain revenge
With both teams having waited an age to get going after being given a different start time than that given to the Haverfordwest officials, the two sets of players were anxious to play some rugby, even if it was on a very poorly maintained pitch.
Llangwm had beaten Milford Haven in the previous 2 encounters between the sides. Today though it was the Wasps who tasted defeat as their opponents put in a really impressive display. Some of the Milford players possessed genuine pace and once they made a line break, they were virtually unstoppable. Had it not been for some enthusiastic defence, with Sion, Rhys, Finlay and Finn in particular standing out, the scoreline would have been wider.
The Wasps showed some good attacking intent too – Alfie was full of running; Charlie and Max were clearly both hungry for the ball, while Dom’s lovely passing always found a player in space. Fletcher ran in a couple of tries, the 2nd a fantastic solo effort; while Dom finished off a great passage of running and passing to get the Wasps’ 3rd.
Unfortunately Milford’s impressive defence prevented more scores and in spite of a valiant effort all round by Llangwm, it is fair to say that the better team won.
Tries: F.Picton(2), D.Asson
Team: C.Wilson, D.Asson, Fl.Picton, S.James, F.Picton-James, M.Tytler, A.Anderson, R.Llewellyn, Fi.Picton
