Welcome to the home page of Llangwm Wasps U11s rugby team!

UNDER 11S COACH’S ROLE
• Develop the player’s skills at the breakdown
• Develop the decision making of the players at the breakdown area, in attack and defence

AIMS RATIONALE
Introduction of the contest for possession, and decision making at the breakdown

At U11 level Rugby is played in teams of up to 10 a side and full tackling takes place. There are no kicks except from within one's own 22, and scrums are uncontested, although contested lineouts now take place. For more information go to http://www.wru.co.uk/downloads/100849_Rugby_Pathway_Book.pdf

All new players, male and female, are welcome - just come along to training or contact the club or any of the committee. Training times are shown below. Matches, whether home or away, are usually at 1100 on Sundays. Our team selection process is simple - if you turn up, you get a game! After matches, a free meal is provided for players in the club house.

This season the Junior membership will be £5 for each child, which will include membership of Llangwm R.F.C. and they will also receive a pair of Junior Wasps rugby socks which must be worn for matches. Your child will not be able to play rugby unless they are a member of the club and registered with the W.R.U. This membership is essential for insurance purposes - if your child was a member last year, he/she should already be a member of the WRU. Please can we encourage you to consider family membership of Llangwm R.F.C. which allows full access to the club for all the family. Details of this can be obtained from us or directly from the club.

This year we have new playing shirts for all our junior teams, and we are extremely grateful for the generous contributions from all our sponsors. We aim to issue the shirts on the day of the match only, they will be collected back in after the match and laundered ready for the next game. Your child will need to have their own shorts, Wasps socks and boots, and come prepared with clean clothes to change into after the game before going into the club for post-match refreshments. If your child has kit from last season we would recommend that this is used for training purposes. If your child has rugby kit (including boots) that no longer fit please consider bringing it (clean) on the Funday so it can be passed on to another child.

As always, we rely heavily on the support of parents and if you would like to volunteer to help the coaches or to become a committee member we would love to hear from you. However if you do not wish to take on a regular role, we still need your help by making bacon rolls and sausage and chips on match days; selling and buying raffle tickets; and attending our fun raising events (the list goes on). Anything you can do to help Llangwm RFC continue to provide fun, confidence building, and rewarding experiences to children will be massively appreciated. The most important thing you can do however is to ensure your child attends training and matches and behaves in a way that supports the teams and the coaches and continues to make us a club to be proud of.
