Llanidloes welcomed local rivals Aberystwyth to Cae Hafren with increased optimism as recent performances have seen a gradual improvement .Within five minutes the backs moved the ball wide in their own half where Dion Kohler with little space avoided three tackles cut inside and raced to score an excellent try .Llanidloes then dominated in the forwards where new recruits Daniel James and Elliot Hopkins performed very well in a competitive match. Llanidloes began to dominate the ruck area and were able to keep attacking options open by offloading in the tackle at every opportunity, the ball carrier had confidence that support would always be on hand. Llanidloes scored the second try when the forwards secured clean ball allowing fly half Tom Jarman to find a gap and touchdown. The Llanidloes effort was epitomised by Lleu Bleddyn becoming a crucial link man at scum half who`s decision making and work rate was from the top drawer.
Aberystwyth then responded with outside centre Josh kicked through for the Aber winger Taylor to score near the corner flag .Within five minutes the Llanidloes forwards offloaded on three or four occasions gaining territory, Kristian Frantz –Morgans initiated the play driving the play forwards supported by Ieuan Phillips who made an excellent pass to Frankie Bachgalupo arriving at pace to crash over under the posts.
.Aberystwyth then were awarded a penalty fifteen meters out which the forwards decided to run ,Floyd Lewis made the tackle of the game stopping the charging Aber no 8 allowing the home team to gain the initiative.
Llanidloes continued in the same vain in the second half with flanker ROB JONES
dominating the tackle area once again. Aberystwyth were a constant threat as their strong running centres attacked at every opportunity however the Llanidloes defence stood strong as Cai Lewis and Dion Kohler marshalled the midfield helped by Morgan Powell, Jack Jones and Rowan Evans. As the game moved to the last quarter Llanidloes maintained the intensity and focus, Cae Lewis picked a good running line and made the ball available to captain Ieuan Phillips who used his power to drive over to score.
The Llanidloes backs have developed in recent weeks as playmaker Cae Lewis and fly half Tom Jarman have a greater understanding. The last Llanidloes try began when Dion Kohler gathered the ball wide out in a defensive position as three Aberystwyth backs looked to pounce, rather than kick to touch he cleverly chipped in field into space where the cover defence failed to gather allowing Kohler to gain possession and race to score a great individual try.
Llanidloes -15s have enjoyed this season of rugby and have progressed to another level which is a credit to their hard work and attitude. This last season is however only a stepping stone as the challenges that lie ahead are formidable and will only be achieved through a commitment to hard work and a positive environment.
