Although the U11 could only muster 9 players for this season’s first festival they gave a very good account of themselves as they were evenly matched in all 3 of their matches.
First up were finalists Pwllheli, who took an early lead but Llanidloes made them dig deep to keep it. Good straight running from centre brought Robbie Williams
his first try of the day and only a deemed hand off stopped him from doubling the score to level the match. Llanidloes squandered further chances as they cut inside with overlaps begging to be used. Morgan Williams
went close but was bundled into touch short of the line.
COBRA a side this Llani team had never beaten were next up, and ferocious tackling kept them in their own half. Building on that pressure Robbie Williams
and Mason Joes gave us a 10-0 lead at the break. COBRA weren’t rolling over easy and for large periods of the second half the y battered the line until they pulled one back. From there it was backs to the wall as Captain Jack lead the tackle count as COBRA were kept out until the final whistle.
Shotton were the third opponents and the first half was a nip and tuck affair Robbie again opened the scoring with Mason bagging his second before the break. Unexpectedly the flood gates opened in the second half with Robbie again! And Jenson adding tries.
Pwllheli were the first team to book theor place in the final. Builth Wells and Gwernyfed pipped us to the playoff with greater try counts.
All the boys deserve credit for there play throughout the 3 matches, Props Jaidan Davies and Ryan Hughes
were great at straightening the line and sucking in tacklers and also pulled off their fair share of defensive duties.
Hooker capt jack led by example doing more than his fair share of donkey work, Ryan Able probably had his best game in a Llani shirt against COBRA, Half backs Tom Evans
and Mason Jones
looked quite accomplished at running the game, and we have a deadly partnership in the centres with Jenson Jones and Robbie Williams
U10 player Morgan Williams
showed his versatility playing prop, 2nd row and wing during the 3 matches.
Da Iawn boys
