Mixed fortunes yet again

The reserves were first to play this weekend when they entertained Kerry Reserves. Buoyed by last Saturday's victory, the reserves were in confident mood, but within a couple of minutes they were trailing. However within a couple of minutes the reserves were on level terms with Huw France scoring from close range. This was as good as it got for the reserves. By half time they were trailing 4-1. Things got worse as they were trailing 7-1 at one stage. There was a late rally with the final score being 9-4. Llan's goals were scored by James Watkin and a Huw France hat-trick.

The firsts were in action at Berriew missing a clutch of players. However this didn't affect the side early on with dan Graham scoring from the penalty spot on 5 minutes after Gus Harris was fouled in the box. The lead was doubled on 20 minutes after Gus calmly slotted the ball in past the advancing keeper. However the home side were on even terms by half time. Things got worse with Chris Aitken suffering a nasty looking injury just before half time.

An early onslaught was survived and the introduction of Huw France changed the flow of the game. On 65 minutes another penalty was converted by Dan after Joe Vaughan was upended in the box. 3 minutes later Huw capped a fine afternoon personally scoing the forth goal, and 5 minutes later Joe Vaughan scored with a looping header to complete the scoring.

This was an outstanding effort by all the boys. They worked so hard for the cause and played with plenty of heart and quality. A great result which sets us up for another big game on Tuesday against Welshpool Town.
