A good performance that on another day would have gained points
Llan traveled to Rhyl in good spirits after their victory against Buckley Town last week. The home side started strongly and Jimmy Hayns was called into action inside 5 minutes. llan's first half opening came on 15 minutes when Khyam Wyton broke down the left and crossed for Iwan Matthews who's touch was heavy and the chance was missed. Rhyl should have taken the lead on 20 minutes after they were awarded a penalty. However the spot kick was put wide and Llan breathed a sigh of relief. The next chance fell to Llan after Tom Evans' run and shot was saved by the keeper. From the resulting corner Llan took the lead. Iain Edmunds' corner was cleared back out to the left. This time Eddy's cross was met by a Tom Bailey header that flew into the corner of the net. Unfortunately Rhyl equalised three minutes later after a defensive mix up. Rhyl were now on the front foot and inside the last 5 minutes Jimmy was once again called into action with a couple of good saves.
Half Time Rhyl 1 Llan 1
The second half followed a similar vein - Rhyl dominating possession but with Llan defending well. Rhyl took the lead on 49 minutes. Jimmy made the initial save but the ball was lashed in from inside the 18 yard box. Llan were almost back in the game immediately when Iwan Matthews charged down a keeper clearance which rolled just wide. On 53 minutes Khyam then had a shot well saved by the home keeper. Rhyl then had the next chances that were well saved by Jimmy once again. On 59 minutes Rhyl hit the post and the ball went wide. On 70 minutes a Khyam cross was well intercepted by the keeper with Iwan well placed. Llan's best chance to equalise came on 85 minutes. An Eddy cross caused confusion in the home defence. This led to a goalmouth scramble with the home defenders throwing their bodies in front of the ball. Unfortunately the ball wouldn't go in for Llan and Rhyl broke upfield and scored the third to end the game.
