Llanymynech produced a dismal display on Saturday as their recent momentum was brought to an abrupt end by Kerry Reserves at Station Road.

Llany were second best in all areas and slumped to a disappointing 4-0 defeat as they lost at home for the second time this season, conceding four goals for the third consecutive home game.

Nathan Bartram made two changes from the Llany starting eleven that emerged 9-4 winners from last week's crazy game against Maesyrhandir as Connor Brown came in for the departing Pat Jervis and George Jones replaced last week's four goal hero Mike Edwards. Brown started at left back, with Josh Hayward switching to right back and Simon Botley and Jamie Phillips continuing their partnership at centre back. Aled Roberts continued behind them in goal, with Carl Rogers in front in defensive midfield. Jack Roberts and Lee Rogers were slightly in front of him, with Sam Roberts and Grant Jones continuing out wide and Jones up front on his own.

Llany struggled for any attacking rhythm all game long and the closest they came to threatening a goal in the first period was when Brown got in behind down the left hand side on a couple of occasions, sending in a dangerous ball on one occasion and dipping a shot just wide on another. Lee Rogers saw a shot well saved after a bursting run into the penalty area from deep and Jack Roberts had an indirect free kick blocked from about eight yards out after their goalkeeper had picked up a back pass.

There was no real sign at this point that Llany would go on to face the struggles that would come in this match and it was probably slightly against the run of play when Kerry took the lead about ten minutes before half time. Hayward was dispossessed on the right side of the penalty area and an excellent cross was dinked in to the back post and when Brown lost his footing their winger had the time to adjust his body and smash in a superb acrobatic finish, with the ball slightly behind him.

Brown was forced off at half time with an injury and Luke Andrew came on in his place o win the man of the match award from his manager as one of the team's few shining lights. Hayward reverted to left back and Andrew slotted in on the right. There was nothing any of them could do but watch as Kerry extended their lead just minutes after the restart. An innocuous ball was travelling back into Llany's possession in their own half when Jack Roberts lost track of it and got it caught under his feet. The visitors seized the opportunity and picked up possession before threading a perfect through ball for their striker to run on to and finish superbly.

At the other end chances were few and far between, with the closest Llany came being from another surging run from deep by Lee Rogers. His shot was deflected, but the Kerry goalkeeper reacted brilliantly to stick out a leg and deflect the ball over the bar for a corner with his shin. Sam Roberts side footed a volley wide and also had an optimistic penalty appeal waved away by the referee.

Chris Grommell was brought on for George Jones to make his first appearance since re-signing for Llany, but couldn't make any magic happen, losing his footing at the crucial moment when he was presented with his most promising shooting opportunity as well as seeing a free kick blocked by the wall. Joe Evans also appeared from the bench in place of Jack Roberts, but to no avail as Llany struggled to do anything with the ball in the Kerry half of the pitch.

As Llany heads dropped things eventually got worse as their proud record of defending set plays came to an end as they conceded two goals from corners before the game was out. On the first occasion Lee Rogers was beaten in the air and Roberts let the header slip through his grasp on the goal line, before Botley was beaten at the back post with just minutes remaining as their centre back added his name to the score sheet.

Llany now have a huge task on their hands as they need to overcome Kerry Reserves next week in the reverse fixture as they look to bounce back from their worst display of the season.
