How Welfare fared this weekend....

The First Team went down 5-0 at Ruthin Town where the home team made the most of their opportunities and took advantage of the visitor’s defensive frailties. However, Welfare showed promise in attack and were desperately unlucky not to find the net with the woodwork and goal line clearances keeping their tally blank.

The Reserves will be kicking themselves for not sewing up three points against visitors Coedpoeth. They found themselves behind after two early strikes but recovered well to lead 3-2, only to ship two further goals late on. A frantic finish saw the home side pepper the visitor’s goal but they couldn’t find the means to salvage a point. Tom Prebble, Mat Levy and Luke Cahill grabbed Welfare’s goals.

The Under 18’s hosted Holywell Town on Sunday morning in what was an entertaining, goal packed encounter. The visitors just shaded it 5-4 but looked on the ropes as Welfare staged a grand stand finish. Welfare’s goals were provide by Joe Crocombe, Tom Moore, a Tom Hardy penalty and a super strike from the centre circle by Liam Reeves, which sailed over the head of the Holywell ‘keeper.
