Thanks to Phil Jones and the Leader for their take on Welfare's recent results....

Saturday 19th August away to St Asaph City in the Welsh Cup.

"Out go St Asaph City, they went down 2-1 t home against Llay Welfare who netted through Matt Worrall on the half hour mark and man of the match Jack Edwards who grabbed a sensational late winner."

Wednesday 23rd August away at Penycae.

"Penycae fought out a thrilling 1-1 draw with Llay Welfare. Austin Owen fluffed an early penalty chance for the hosts but atoned by getting their opening goal. Llay improved as the game progressed and deservedly hit back though a 78th minute penalty converted by Matty Worrall after a foul on Jack Edwards."

Friday 25th August at home to Buckley Town.

" Llay Welfare scored all 4 goals in the thrilling 2-2 draw with Buckley Town but sadly 2 of them were own goals. Under pressure, Jake Kelsall deflected a cross past his own keeper Dave Williams but their response was a Matty Worrall leveller. Llay were helpful in Buckley regaining their lead when Ryan Griffiths notched at the wrong end deflecting a goal bound effort from Aaron Williams but rescuing a point for Llay was Jack Edwards."

Below is Stephen Dallas's take on the game courtesy of the Buckley Town website.

"Friday night fixture sees points shared at The Ring

Buckley Town played a competitive match in Llay on Friday night, which saw the hosts earn a late point.
Buckley had the run of the play in the first half and Llay's Jake Kelsall gave away an own goal to give their Buckley a 1-0 lead at half-time. In the second half Llay replied with an equaliser only to see Buckley regain the lead shortly afterwards through Aron Williams.
However in the last minutes of the game, Llay rescued a point with a strike from Jack Edwards.
Dan Moore: 'We're disappointed not to win after leading the game twice and conceding so late.'
'We had enough opportunities to win in the second half, despite conceding twice'.
'It was a tough game at times, but we did make life difficult for ourselves'.
'Llay will take points off teams throughout the year and whilst we are disappointed to not hold out for a win,it could prove to be a valuable point long-term'.
Llay coach Michael Gadie 'It was a cracking game. First half my players couldn't get anywhere near the Buckley lads, who moved the ball around really well. The lads looked fatigued after playing 48 hours earlier.'
'We asked more of them second half and asked them to get on the ball and in their faces a little more'.
'All the very best to Buckley, who are a great side and will be up there challenging come May."
