The Testicular Cancer Fundraising Event held at London Cornish on Saturday 18th July was a major success, as well over £1,000 looks set to be raised.

The event was a great example of how the rugby community comes together to support each other, whether it be with auction donations messages of support or coming down to join in.
- Ben Gilby, Press Officer

The event was organised by London Cornish’s press officer Ben Gilby, who is recovering from testicular cancer at the present time.

On Saturday morning visitors took to the first team pitch at the club to hit as many successful kicks of rugby balls between the posts as possible in an hour. Two people lasted for the whole hour and chalked up 125 kicks between them, with a number of others adding to the tally during short bursts.

Also available was an opportunity to bid on a number of quite incredible auction items, with the star lot being a chance for a child aged between 5-12 to be the mascot for the Barbarians v Argentina at Twickenham Stadium on 21st November – a lot which also includes three match tickets and a Barbarians kit for the child to keep afterwards. Bids are open until the final auction which will take place on 8th August. A full list of lots available can be seen at https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/londoncornishrfc/news/exiles-ground-to-host-cancer-fundraiser-1450963.html which includes information on how to bid for items ahead of the final auction on 8th August which will take place at Cornish Pirates RFC.
