Series of meetings results in 2 stage plan to lay draining on 1s pitch.

With LCRFC having been unable to use the 1s pitch since October (and our other pitch for long periods) for the second season running, a series of meetings between the RFU, the Wimbledon Common Conservators and LCRFC has resulted in all parties investing in a plan to ensure that the pitch is restored to its best in time for the 2016/7 season, and possibly in time for next season. The 2 stage plan is as follows:

Stage 1
At seasons end and following an investigation by an argonomist, both the front pitches will be vertidrained and holes drilled to be filled with sand. Should this not alleviate the problem, then Stage 2 will be initiated.

Stage 2
The current 2nd team pitch will be extended and widened to cover the far end of the 1s pitch, the posts relocated for 1 year. The current 1s pitch will be out of commission for the season while trenches are dug and old ones cleared back to the stream, and the wider drainage issues are tackled.

The club will draw on a series of funding streams available to it, and President Mike Herring will manage the project from the clubs perspective. We would like to place on record our thanks to Ty Sterry and Jason Bowers from the RFU, and to Simon Lee and Gary Jepson from WCC for their help and understanding.
