The tour reunion fixture was always likely to provide some special hockey but no-one could have imagined the feast of sport that awaited as we lined up a player short. Thankfully new housemates, Pricey and Dunning, finished their romantic dinner in time to join us 5 minutes in but not before we'd conceded a goal. Another quickly followed from a well taken strike and suddenly things were looking bleak.

Thankfully a rapid break and the oppo stopping to whine, something of a national habit, allowed Jonny "Honest Doug" to slam home a goal, and then a "swing and a miss" from Nursey cleared the defense so he could dolly the ball past their keeper and allow Ed to fire in an equaliser. The half finished with the Ed's taking the lead as Pricey showed himself to be the Jewish Jordi Alba, breaking from left back to link with Jonny and Dunning before flicking in our third.

At half time we were feeling quietly confident, the oppo had no subs and we clearly had the measure of them... or so we thought. The oppo quickly brought themselves back into the game and, but for some stirling work from Shitters between the posts and Hildrey and Honest Doug, they could have taken the lead. The lead was return to us from an unlikely source when Pricey found his LBZ to drive the ball well wide of the goal only for their keeper to pull in back inside the post. From the re-start Dunning stole the ball off the player and ran into the D, stopped at the baseline and then turned on a 6-pence to drive goal ward, pulling back and beating the flailing the keeper.

With the 5-3 lead the game looked in the bag but Merton won a short corner and, with the play already moving safely away from the top of the D, Dunning put a stick in front of the shot to send it flying to the top corner and away from the logged keeper. Still, at 5-4 it didn't look beyond hope but then a moment of brilliance saw their playmaker drive through the middle, leaving our players struggling in his wake. Suddenly, before we could think to invoke the Bosman Ruling, he round Shitface and planted the ball in the goal pulling it level.

It finished 5-5, a fair result after a memorable match. Roll on next week.
