CUP SHOCK AS BULLS KNOCK OUT PREMIERSHIP TEAM - PERCY MAIN 0 v 2 LONGBENTON FC

The thrill of the Cup brought Premiership team Percy Main Amateurs and 2nd Division Longbenton FC together for this 1st round tie.
Obvious expectation was a comfortable win for the Home side, However, The Bulls had other ideas, with a number of first team players still missing the the team was not at full strength.
The game started with a high tempo with both teams coming close to scoring, but after 25 minutes the Bulls started to take control and looked the most likely to score first.
So it was in the 39th minute, after good passing passage of play down the right wing Anth Brown played a through ball to Stephen Armstrong who whip a cross into the box for DAVID SHORT to leap at the back post to power a header past the Keeper. 0 v 1 Half Time the Bulls lead 1 v 0
Early in the second half Percy Main put the Bulls under pressure as they searched for the equaliser, but the back four Richie Charlton, Paul Pescod , Martin Reynolds and Peter Webster restricted their chances and when they were successful Keeper Martin Dixon was in excellent form to stop them,
As in the first half after 20 minutes the Bulls became stronger and squanderer some excellent chances. In the 78 minute the tie was over, as just on substitutes ROB WOODS chased down a poor back pass, intercepted it, rounded the keeper to score 0 v 2. The home side had no response.
