Our final home tournament
U12's 6th and likely final home festival was a success organisationally but the our rugby wasn't quite where we'd like it to be.
Short sharp games were the order of the day for our festival. With 6 11 minute games against local opposition there was plenty of game time for everyone and all played in a good spirit. Details are a bit light I'm afraid as I didn't get to see much of then games whilst I concentrated more on the festival as a whole.
We started off against Towcester and were comprehensively out rucked. We often got to a breakdown first but were then driven off the ball so failed to build any real pressure. Towcester scored once following a couple of missed tackles. 0-1 to Towcester.
Game 2 and we were up against Bugbrooke. This time we build a lot of pressure and crossed the line 4 times but 2 were adjudged to be held up. However scores for Aiden and David saw us home. Unfortunately we lost Samuel to a high tackle that would rule him out for the rest of the festival.
Game 3 was against Casuals and produced more Buckby tries. Will M, Jacob H(2), Toby and Max scoring for Bucks. Toby stood in at fly half for Samuel and did well really stepping up on his passing.
Game 4 saw us pitted against ON's. Another tight game but we lost 1-2. David scoring for Bucks.
Game 5 was versus South Leicester another team with a small squad and we adjusted our numbers accordingly. 6 - 0 to Buckby with David getting a hat-trick and Max, Kally and Stirling getting one each.
As we'd been light on 3 cheers at the end of games all teams then got together for a round of three cheers to finish things off before we closed things out with the final game of our festival against Daventry.
It was a tight game that swung from end to end but neither side managed to cross the line and things ended 0-0.
Overall a good day but ... I'm not sure if we've lost a little something as a team over the past month or so or if the opposition has generally stepped up but our rugby isn't quite where it was. We seem to have gone back a bit to individual rugby and relying heavily on David rather than the offloading and support work that appeared to be gelling previously.
Many thanks to John B for the photo's of the day
