U12's cycle to Bergerac!
Sponsored cycle and row covering the 732 miles to Bergerac, France.
To raise fund for our planned tour to France at the end of May the u12's group took on the challenge to cycle and row the 732 miles to from Buckby to Bergerac. We were greatly assisted by the loan of 6 static bikes from Xercise4less in Rugby with a few of the group bringing Turbo trainers and rowing machines from home.
In between stints on the Bike we also ran kept the young players and parents fed by running the BBQ.
Starting nice and early (around 8.30) we were quickly racking up the miles/kilometers with fresh legs arriving just as they were needed to keep the momentum going. Seb and Justin did a great job on the row across the channel. Rob probably did the hardest 6 mile stint as the resistance on my turbo trainer was at it maximum.
It was a great effort from the group with lot's of parents joining in with the players to finish well ahead of our expected ETA (Ryanair take note!).
Biggest number of kilometers by an individual goes to Andy Purves with a impressive 80km. Jacob H rode the biggest distance of the players clocking up 72. Kallan and Jack P rode 55km each and Felix 50 but the best thing was the way everyone got stuck in and contributed, a real team effort.
A special mention for the hard work to Justin for keeping track of our progress, Laura and Ceri for the banner and map, Laura, Ceri, Jennie, Karen, Dan, John, Andy and the players that ran and helped out on the BBQ and Vaughn for the berets.
