Enjoyable penultimate U12 tournament

Good mornings rugby at Old Scouts.

With the end of the season just round the corner U12's took part in the Old Scouts tournament on Sunday the 30th. A little rain during the week and a quite a lot more grass left on the pitch made things a little easier on the players than the previous week but it was still a very firm track and quite a big pitch to give us an idea of what may come next year!

Bucks were straight in at the deep end against the Hosts. We battled really well and scored first with John M finishing well but unfortunately couldn't sustain it and lost too many rucks so lost 3-1.

After a bit of a rest and regroup we took on Bedford. For the 1st quarter our rucking especially was top draw stuff with John M finishing in the far corner. However Bedford are a quality side and clawed their way back into it as we tired and started to drop off a little in the rucks, finally one of their quickest players got round our defense to score their second. Close fought to the end but a 2-1 loss.

Our final game was against BBOB's who'd already suffered large defeats against Scouts and Bedford. Here we had that extra bit of space and time and played some lovely rugby with good support work and passing being the key to most of the tries. David powered forward and delivered a lovely off load to John for one tri. Will W got on the end of a end to end move with Jack FS delivering a nicely timed pass to set John M free who then also drew the last defender to put Will away. Aiden capped a good day with a short range try. We also choose some good options and played things slightly differently. Toby cut a nice line on the blind side of a scrum to go in from some distance, Sam threw a nice miss pass to Dan that set him free for one and Dan showed some good vision and a decent kick and chase to set up Kally's final try. 10 - 0 to Bucks (John M (3), Kally (3), Toby, Aiden, Dan, Will W scoring).

Overall a really good performance from the whole squad. Kally had a stormer at full back, David made yards against every team.
Hopefully more of the same as just about the whole squad are availa

It’s our final Kids First Champion for the season! David ‘Flats’ Flatman and two special guests surprise Ellingham & Ringwood RFC.
