Long Eaton Rugby are back on track for success after another weekend of victories for the 1st and 2nd XV.
The teams celebrated wins over Ashby away and Vipers at home respectively on Saturday 3rd November, making it their third weekend of wins in a row.
The 1st XV achieved yet another bonus point victory over Ashby, scoring seven tries in total. The forwards dominated the first 20 minutes, scoring an impressive three tries, but Long Eaton struggled with discipline throughout the game, resulting in three yellow cards for players.
Outstanding performances included Fly-half and last week’s Man of the Match, Rory Morgan-Williams, who kicked seven out of seven total conversions. Man of the Match was awarded to flying back three player, Ben Milton, who was consistently threatening with the ball in hand. The final score was 42-7 to Long Eaton.
Long Eaton’s 2nd XV, together with a few guest 3rd XV players, faced Leicestershire side Vipers at home on West Park. A very strong team performance with skill and strength from all, helped Long Eaton steal the win 32-12 against a team which had a slight weight advantage.
2nd XV Captain, Ryan Holden commented: “It was great to see some of our development players step up to the second team and the high standard set by Long Eaton was maintained throughout. Stand out performance for me were Gary Sumpter and Jack Cambridge, but Man of the Match was truly deserved by Kieran Pearson who put in two line break tries and some ferocious tackling.”
Long Eaton’s 1st XV face Camp Hill RFC in the National Cup next Saturday 10th November.
