DEAR MEMBER, 18th November, 2011
Since my last ‘Newsletter’ (July’11) a great deal has been achieved by all sections of the Club. The hard work of your Management Team continues at pace, and I will cover the important details later in this letter.
On the playing side we regularly field two adult XV’s, and the ever improving Junior section grows stronger week by week. Congratulations and thanks go to Pat Costello & Chris Brookes for not only re-introducing the ‘Colts’section back to the club, but for their enthusiasm and commitment in taking this vitally important element of our club forward.
From my visits to their training sessions, I have witnessed a massive improvement. From their very first training session back min August, they have gone from strength to strength. With only a third of the season complete, Pat & Chris and their assistant youth coaches can be very please by their results.
Future adult teams will undoubtedly be produced from the ranks of these young players. Already enjoying their elevation from the Colts to the 2nd XV are Tom Kitson (4 tries in the last two matches) and Nathan Taylor (1 try last week). Well done both of you, and keep on enjoying your rugby.
The 1st & 2nd XV’s produce strong squad’s each week-end, and their results are evident of their playing strengths. After promotion last season, the 1st XV currently sit 3rd in Midlands 4 (N) League.
Training: Adult training continues each Wednesday evening commencing at 7 pm. Youth training Wed (7 pm) and Sunday training starting at 10.30 am.
Whilst fitness is an individual challenge, you will find each session will test to improve YOUR personal goal?
If you have not yet attended a training session, PLEASE give it a go, SUPPORT your club and ENJOY!!!

CLUB SHOP
See below:
Bobby Rees (Fundraising & Sponsorship) should be congratulated on his efforts in negotiating an excellent kit supplier (
Raging Bull) and club Sponsors to offset the overall costs in producing this kit. Bob has also managed to arrange a ‘Club Shop’ which is available to order (online). This enables the CLUB not having to hold ‘stock’ and tie-up club funds.
Raging Bull will be able to supply individual member’s direct to their home or work address by creating a
‘link’ from our Club web-page. The normal items of kit will be available (hoodies, polo shirts, socks, replica club shirts etc) to order, with delivery time approx two weeks. The club will also benefit a 10% rebate from Raging Bull on all sales.

Thanks Dean for your superb efforts on the Management Team, in particular your excellent coaching expertise, during the past three season. We wish you well in your new job.
Club Renovation/Rebuild. Chris Brookes (Club Chairman) has recently spent a tremendous amount of time and effort in producing the groundwork in regard to the future Club rebuild.
Chris set up a Club Development Team, and arranged a number of minor meetings to bring together various outside agencies in order to discuss future Development Plan. On the 21st October it was agreed to hold a full scale meeting at the West Park Leisure Centre with representatives from Erewash Borough Council, Sport England, RFU, and other local community planning departments to discuss the Club’s Development Plans. The meeting went exceptionally well, with provisional agreement by all in attendance to commence proceedings and take the project forward.
In essence, the Development Team proposed plan is to double the current Clubhouse space, by extending the Clubhouse into ‘two story’ ; this will provide the club with a first floor for bar, social area, and balcony. The existing ground floor area, would be used for changing rooms, showers, toilets, storerooms and a small gymnasium.
Alex Ball (club member & professional architect) has agreed to design the new clubhouse and his initial plans will be presented to further meetings planned for the new year. It is envisage the project will take up to 18 months to complete, dependent on planning application, local authority approval etc.
On behalf of the Club, I would like the thank Chris Brookes for his hard work and dedication in making this project possible, and for taking the Club forward.
