Long Eaton 2's take on Melbourne in a top of the table clash down at West Park (2.15 KO - Saturday 10th Feb). Looking strong coming off the back of a 31-0 away win to book the club into the County Final, Long Eaton want to see their unbeaten 2018 continue. The 2's are in a fantastic position going forward with some young and exciting colts taking part in the Semi-final victory last weekend. I'm sure they will be eager to impress in training this week to get on the team sheet again in one of the biggest fixtures for this 2's team. The Likes of Toby Brookes at Centre, James Jowett at Scrum half, Alex Richmond coming off the bench at Fly half and Lewis Checkley coming off the bench on the wing (albeit received a yellow card 2 minutes in) all played their part booking Long Eaton into the Final. The 2's will as ever have the sturdy figures of Ryan Holden (CPT), Twinnie(s) and Kieran Ward ready to go, with the hope of adding some more experience into the mix.
Cpt Ryan Holden Said after last weekend’s semi-final Victory ‘After proving where our strengths lie in a dominant streak of games, we are ready for the challenge of securing our place at the top of the league. there is no doubt this will be a difficult test for the team, but we will train hard on Tuesday and Thursday to make sure we are fully prepared going into Saturdays fixture.’
A Message from Coach Liam Waddingham heading into this big fixture:
‘Long Eaton rugby is going from strength to strength and after a fantastic performance from a very young LE 2nd team progressing the cup and being top of the league. This weekend we welcome Melbourne to fortress west-park for a top of the table clash. Win, lose or draw LE2 will continue to move forward with fantastic structure and player development.’
Come down and cheer on the 2’s as they aim to increase their position at the top of the Security Plus Pennant League. 2.15 KO Saturday 10th February.
