Steve Welsh's comment following United's friendly defeat

I'm disappointed with the two goals, obviously, but we got a lot out of the game. I think in patches tonight we played some really good stuff, I thought we created chances that on another night we'd be finishing those.

I know big Fordy's not match fit yet, he's come back late for pre-season so he's going to take a couple of weeks to get up to speed. We've not got Bullet either.

I'm confident that when we get these boys up fit, the stuff that people are putting into the box, we'll get goals from.

And it's two individual errors that led to the goals.

There was a period at the start of the second half when the opposition got on top of us a wee bit and looked as if they were going to start cutting through us a bit. So we changed things and found our feet in the game and just when we were finding our feet in the game, we make a mistake and it costs us a goal.

The lads are young but they've got to learn that making a mistake can cost us three points.

Lots of positives tonight, a few things we have to work on and address and we'll do that over the next couple of weeks.

I've seen a lot of lads playing who I need to make decisions on, so I'll contemplate that over the next day or so and make my decisions for formalising the final squad.

We've got another game now, next Tuesday night against Alfreton's first team and as long as we can compete in that game, I'll be happy.
