This weekend sees Long Eaton Utd face table toppers Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium as both teams fight it out in what will be a tight 6 point match.

The Blues hosted Mansfield Town just over a month ago at Grange Park, with a 3-3 draw ensuring thats points were shared on a very frustrating afternoon for the Blues. A poor first half performance saw Mansfield deservedly take the lead twice, but an improved second half performance saw the game equal up with both teams having chances to take all 3 points.

Since that game on 18th October the Stagettes have played 3 league games, beating Rise Park 1-0, Ellistown 4-2 and Grimsby Borough 9-0. The Blues have also been in the goals themselves, beating Grimsby Borough 14-0, Notts County 7-1 and Chesterfield 15-1.

Long Eaton Utd are strengthened with the signing of former Centre Back Kat Clarke who re signed from Womens Premier League Division 1 side Rotherham Utd this week to help strengthen defensive options. The Blues will be hoping that Precious Hamilton (20 in 7), Cara Newton (12 in 6) and Shell Kilmartin (7 in 6) can continue their fine goal scoring form as they look to keep Mansfield Town's Abbey Hawkins (10 in 6) and Jemma Douglas (7 in 8) quiet.

One thing this game does promise is goals- both teams managing a combined 77 goals in the league so far, with the Blues league top scorers with 46 in 6 games and Mansfield 3rd with 31 in 8 games. It promises to be a great game of football with a big 3 points to play for as both teams chase table toppers Bedworth for that one promotion place. Bedworth Utd are set to face The Blues at home on 3rd January before welcoming Mansfield Town the following week. They then make the journey to Grange Park on the final game of the season for what could be the title decider!
