History
Longhoughton Rangers Youth Football Club caters for boys and girls aged 5 to adult and is currently the only FA Charter Standard Community Club in Alnwick District. Longhoughton is 4 miles east of Alnwick, on the beautiful Northumberland coast.
Founded as recently as 2002, the Club started with teams in the Glendale mini-soccer League.
Eight years later it has grown into one of the largest youth football clubs in North Northumberland and in Season 2010-2011 has almost 250 players in 16 teams. The Club has teams in the renowned Pinpoint League, the Glendale mini-soccer League, the Northumberland Girls League and for the first time this season, the North Northumberland adults league.
The Club is proud of its contribution to football development in the North-East and its service to the wider community. The FA have recognised Longhoughton's role and made the Club its North of England Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2007. In 2009, the Club was awarded the FA's National Charter Standard Development Club of the Year; a fantastic achievement of which we are all exceptionally proud and honoured.
The Club continually strives to develop its purely volunteer workforce and currently has 32 FA Level 1 coaches, 4 FA Level 2 coaches and 1 UEFA B coach, all of whom hold FA CRB checks. The Club also has 5 FA qualified Child Welfare Officers to ensure the welfare of all our players which remains paramount at all times.
The biggest development in our history was the announcement of a Football Foundation Grant of an incredible £1million towards a football and community venue in Longhoughton. Westfield Park was handed over on 21 Septmeber 2009 and boasts 2 superb grass pitches with state of the art drainage, a 60mx40m floodlit, 3rd generation synthetic turf pitch and a building with changing rooms, a large hall, small meeting room and kitchen. This £1.5m project is being led by Longhoughton Village Development Trust and serves as a fantastic base for our club.
