On Saturday 29 January, at a prestigious awards ceremony in Alnwick Playhouse, the Club's Andrew 'Jimmy' Somerville won the Sports Volunteer of the Year Award for his incredibly hard work with Longhoughton Rangers.
The award recognised Jimmy's outstanding and tireless work at Longhoughton Rangers in promoting girls and ladies football whilst undertaking a huge portfolio of work from CWO, pitch allocation for 17 teams, support for local schools and charities to coaching the U-14 B boys team.
This is the 3rd time in 4 years that a LRFC coach has lifted this award (Chairman Paul Kiddell in 2008 and Rod Munday in 2009) whilst the whole LRFC Committee won the Service to Sport award in 2010.
Great and much deserved recognition for Jimmy which again demonstrates the Club’s outstanding reputation in the District for providing high quality sporting opportunities to our 250 playing members.
Well done Jimmy; take a bow son!
