A storming first 15 minutes from the home side all but won the game for the Griffins after racking up 20 points without answer, and a far larger Bream side scratching their heads.
Fast free flowing rugby was observed by the crowd which saw all of the levens side with ball in hand and gaining yards, with the Bream defence almost no existance. They were rewarded when Shane Obrien raced away offloading to supporting Flanker Louis Spencer to cross the line. Peer added the extras.
Its was Peers boot again minutes later putting 3 more points on the board after fine running from Joe Skalked who outpaced the away side but for a last ditch tackle by the full back, but the covering defence killed the ball off.
Richard Rudge was marshalling the back line well at fly half and a well worked backs move off the training ground saw Winger Liam Dance fly pass his opposite number and dive over into the corner. Peer added the extras
Peer was on fine form with his boot and slotted another cool penalty to make it 20-0 with only 15 minutes on the clock.
The home side defence was superb all afternoon, abut after a period of pressure on the Levens line saw Louis Spencer sent to the Sin Bin for killing the ball and Prop Andy Richards go off with a nasty 'eye watering' injury.
The Bream scrum forced the lighter Levens pack to collapse and penalty try was awarded by the ref. The conversion was taken taking it to 20-7 at half time.
Levens back to full strength and the introducing of Gav Stokes ensured the levens scrum was back on top. Young Oliver Deacon was certainly holding his own against a weighty Bream Pack, as did Hooker James Neal who made a strong 1st team claim for next weeks league game.
Levens had plenty of possesion in the second half and the levens pack took control of a tiring heavy Bream pack. Jeff Hodges and Joe Skalked all had good probing runs, and levens took full advantage of their pressure by sending Gav Stokes crashing over. Peer Missed the conversion.
The introduction of centre Sam Smith and Danny Pitt stepped Levens up a gear and two quick fire tries from Harry Yorke sealed a comfortable win for the Griffins who were dominat in the last 20 mintues and were unlucky to have not had further tries after crossing the line twice Jed Jones and Jeff Hodges all judged to have been held up.
Next week Levens will face local rivals Spartans which will be sure to a mouth watering prospect, and Levens have asked all the local support to come out in force to cheer them on to victory
