The Gloucester Premier beckons for the Griffins next season and with the Super 2's also securing promotion it appears to be a promising time for Longlevens RFC and this talented group of players.
An unbeaten home record, a solid defence and some great running rugby displays ensured the Griff's secured second place at a canter. A tricky start saw 2 wins out of 3, losing to the inconsistent Bream away and a home win over eventual Champions Bishopston. October and November brought 7 wins out of 7, inculding defeats of old rivals Spartans and Hucclecote and introduced the club to Gloucester 1 new boys Kingswood and Cotham Park.
The big freeze postponed activity for a while but the run continued until a 13-10 defeat to Kingswood. A draw at home to Bream aside Levs went on to win all their remaining games until a last day defeat at Bishopston who they will be joining next season in the Gloucester Premier. The side also showed great promise in the Combination Cup, a youthful side going down 28-7 to Old Richians, a massive improvement on last years result in which the performance was praised even by our old friends across Old Cheltenham Road (see the match report included in todays news feed).
The Super 2's also had a memorable season, winning promotion to Reserve League 3 to show the depth that is building in the playing squad. There were many postponements and disruptions but the highlights were definately the double over the previosuly unbeaten Chosen Hill 3's and a good display against Coney Hill in the combination Cup.
