Longlevens travel east to Kent to taste FA Vase first round proper action

Longlevens will travel east to Kent tomorrow, where they face Southern Counties East side Sevenoaks Town in the Buildbase FA Vase first round proper.
The game is of historic nature for both clubs as it’s the first team that either side have played in this round of the competition. Longlevens Manager Mark Moore is preparing his players to ensure that they give their all to make yet more history for the “village” club.
“It’s an aim that we set as the first qualifying round draw came out was to get into the first-round proper, now we are here I’ve set the lads the target of doing everything to get through the tie. After all, if we get through it would be great to finally get a home tie in the competition”
Longlevens are yet to play home tie in the FA Vase since they were able to enter the competition two seasons ago.
With the sides being separated by a three hour drive Moore has admitted it’s tough to know what to expect from the tie.
“Naturally, you try to do your homework by looking at their results, their league table and trying to do some digging into opposition that they may have come up against, but in this case, we haven’t been able to do the later so we are focusing on what we do well and what we need to get right on the day to give us the best chance of winning the tie”
Longlevens has suffered two heavy defeats in their last two outings and Moore is keen to put this behind them having previously been on a good run on results.
“The Oxford game we were outplayed from the start. It was some of the lads first time playing on a 3G pitch and I think it affected them slightly as to how the ball bounced etc, but make no excuses we were outplayed by a good side the moved the ball really well”
“We rotated the squad during the week and were able to give 10 players who would normally be in and around the squad a much needed rest ensuring that we are at full strength going into this tie. We started the game well against Shirehampton, but ultimately left ourselves far too open defensively as we tried to get back into the game and credit to them they took full advantage”
“On the positive side we gave three or four lads another 90 minutes in their legs which brings them all into contention for tomorrows side”

Defenders; Ed Smylle and Ollie Long come back into the squad alongside Midfielder Dave Rich.
Kick off is at 3pm at the Bourne stadium and can be hear LIVE via @severnsport where they are joined by Longlevens former manager James French during the coverage.
