Southport Hesketh v Longridge Town

" Vital that we are at it from the first minute....."
- Manager Lee Ashcroft

Longridge travel to Southport Hesketh tomorrow afternoon knowing only a win will suffice as they close in on their first West Lancashire League Premier Division title.

Speaking to Gavin Browne of the Longridge News earlier this week Manager Lee Ashcroft was keen to stress the importance of victory with just 5 games remaining, " As I've said many times, everyone raises their game when they play the League leaders so we have to make sure that we are on our game. At this stage of the season every point is vital, but there are a lot of things to be won if we'd things right."

"Southport gave us a tough game at home earlier in the season when we came back from 3-0 down to win, and they score a lot of goals if you look at their record, so it's vital that we are 'at it' from the first minute onwards."

Following last week's hard fought win at Turton, title rivals Wren Rovers could only draw up at Whitehaven leaving Town with the opportunity to go 5 points clear should they win at Southport in their game in hand on the Blackpool based side.

Striker Brad Carsley (pictured) will continue to lead the side in the absence of suspended Captain George Melling, as he looks to retain his League leading scorer title from last year, with flying winger Ash Ball also missing through suspension.

The postcode for Town supporters wishing to make the trip is PR9 7NJ, and your support would be most welcome before Town return to the MRG for 3 home games on the run.
