Manager's Message - August 2012

As we enter the 2012/13 season how are we looking? ...well after another summer of sterling work behind the scenes we now have 4 more youth teams giving us youth teams at every age group to go with our ladies and veterans teams. Credit for this must go to Steve Race who works tirelessly to ensure Long Stratton becomes the hotbed of South Norfolk football. With regards to the men's teams we have never looked stronger, having set out at the start of the summer with two objectives. 1. To bring in ex-LS High School lads back to the village and club and 2. To strengthen the reserves so we are closer to ensuring both sides compete favourably in their leagues.
Damian Hilton, David Robinson, Sam Wenham have returned 'home' to Stratton plus experienced keeper Chris Brownbridge has arrived to keep Supermac MacRae on his toes. Add to that the addition of some top young players in Matt Nichols, Logan, Folkard, Bolger and Ringer the short term and the long term looks bright for the Mighty Reds.

In pre-season i have been very impressed with the young contingent and would say to them, train hard, listen and learn from the coaches, be brave and get on the ball, it won't be long before you progress up therough the ranks.

Great to see my old mate Corko step up into the management of the reserves, his loyalty and commitment to LSFC is something all can learn from. Jane the physio also returns after a season at Beccles.

Although I am not one for setting targets outwardly there is no getting away from the fact that the first team are out to right some wrongs from last season and should we steer clear of injuries we hope to take the first team up to the promised land of the premier divison of the Anglian Comb. It will be a tough challenge with 30 tough games and 2 local derbies v Harleston Town. Let the battle commence....
