Stratton do it in style to continue with there positive start to the campaigne
After last weeks very positive start Long Stratton had their first home game this season to Caister Roma, who we had decent games against last season,so it was going to be an interesting game.
Before the kick off the weather was not bad with a little breeze in the air but by the time we kicked off the wind had picked up in favour of the slope and in favour to us on which we took full advantage of and applied the pressure from the off and after just three and a half minutes a quick throw down the line from Fin Collins set Charlie Rumbelow up to open the score line.
We continued with some good football and Levi Newitt and Josh Tyler were both making good runs down the wings andtwo minutes later saw Reubon Merideth open his account with Stratton with a well taken goal and two nil.
The Stratton defence were well on their game not allowing Caister in and the centre duo of Rumbelow and Liam Wilson was as strong as ever.
ON 26 minutes Stratton extended their lead with a surging run from Josh T and an excellent strike over the Caister keeper and his first goal in a Startton shirt and 3-0.
Stratton continued with some good football giving very few balls away and winning the battles and on 28mins Liam Wilson got his second goal of the season with a very well stuck goal from a great ball from left back Fin Collins and 4-0 before the half.
Now this was the first time we had been 4 up by the break so it was very important not to get carried away with our self's,we had scored 4 in the half and they could quite easily do the same with the slope and wind,so concentration and discipline would take us over the finish line but we would have to soke up some early pressure and we did this well clearing our lines and counter attacking when doing so.
Making their debuts this week were Decota Sillett who showed some good pace at the back,James Berwick who showed some strong attacks down the wing and Kai Robert's who got himself in some good position's nearly scoring.
After soaking up some good pressure from the visitor's Stratton finally continued the scoring with another well taken goal from Rumbelow and now 5-0.But with plenty of time still on the clock we had to keep playing our football and not let Caister in but all credit to them they kept their head's up and fired past the Stratton keeper to grab one back but Stratton responded with another goal from Rumbelow and his hatrick 6-1.
The visiter's got another one back before Charlie finished the game off with his 4th and 7-2 to the mighty Red's and earning him Man of the Match.
This game once again showing that we are playing some decent football and the confidence growing through the whole team,a well deserved victory.
