Match 1: Melton 8 Loughborough 7
A tiny pitch made early play congested meaning Will O’Neill then Edward Gossage quickly ran into trouble allowing Melton an early try. An immediate response from Joe Collier, George Rowe and Gossage set up a Sam King try which was soon followed by a super solo run and try from Alex Bown. Excellent tagging from Collier, Bown and Ewan Moody gave Loughborough turnover ball and Moody a try, however strong running from Melton left the half time score level. Despite valiant defending from Bown, Cameron Shaw, Tom Fraser and Declan Fahy the visitors were regularly pushed into touch. Further tries came from Fahy, Gossage and Laurie Field then a weaving run from Shaw should have levelled the match but Melton scored in the dying seconds.

Match 2 : Melton 5 Loughborough 7
With the pitch now larger Loughborough took advantage with a great run from O’Neill securing an early score soon matched after a show of pace from Collier.Fahy, Collier,Gossage and Moody passed well but twice players failed to make the score sheet as they slipped near the try line.Fahy then ran the width of the pitch to deny Melton’s strongest player. King, Fraser, Laurie Field and Fahy defended strongly and the pressure was soon rewarded with a Fahy try then one for O’Neill. The next score came from a weaving run by Euan Kitching then excellent teamwork led to another from Bown.Towards the end of the match Loughborough defended strongly via Field, Bown and Fahy and were rewarded with a final try for Kitching.
