Top of the Table Clash....

Loughborough 3's played host to top of the Table Oakham Wanderers.

Due to Market Bosworth's Postponement earlier on in the season, Loughborough 3's have had to be content with sitting second in the league with a game in hand. Today provided an opportunity right this wrong. Win today and Loughborugh would move to top of the table with a game in hand after just 4 games.

Pre match, Captain David Talbot was in good spirits, even though he had lost key players to the 2's in recent weeks, so far this season, the 3's core players had been in excellent form. Also, there was the exciting prospect of giving 3 Colts players their first senior game.

Callum Smith, (not the lanky streak of *$&%^, Callum Smith) a better looking and more classy colt, Colts captain Jake Wheatley Bridges and Adrian .... all stepped up and reminded the club that there is real quality coming through from the junior sections. Ollie Moore (probably classed as a veteran now) once again had a solid game, playing flanker but throwing in at lineouts. A few spectators were wondering if his middle name was 'the power' I can only assume that this was a reflection of his ability to throw "arrah's" with pin point accuracy and not a comparison to Phil Taylors shape.

Dean Kendall once again had a Man of the match performance... Unfortunately, he is unavailable this week as there were many people who witnessed Commit GBH on his opposite number at a restart and rather than go to court, he has decided to Lay low and hide in the deepest, darkest part of the UK, a place where no self respecting English person would ever dream of going... Cardiff..

James Busby bought plenty of Handbags to swing around the pitch this week, it looked like a tough game for a scrum half, especially as the ref failed to notice.... well most things to be honest. But Buzz managed to cope with the frustrating ball killing tactics that Oakham employed at every opportunity.

Matt Jennaway celebrated his 30th Birthday this weekend, and the night before, Matt, Rowan Paterson, Tom Joyce and Ethan Barnes treated the notion of pre match day preparation with utter contempt.. Captain Dave was at least warned about the plan and was then able to get a sleepless night wondering if he would be down to 14 players...

Ethan Barnes had a great game at fly half, scoring a try or two, converting plenty of tries and generally making the right decisions... The Full English Breakfast obviously sorted his hangover out in time for the kickoff.

Rhys Williams scored twice, once again he had a solid game in both attack and defense... Olli Mcmullan OWNED his opposite number. In fact he socre one try and fluffed a second one... Literally, Dave Talbot gave him an easy 5 metre run in after committing 3 players ( Well, thanks to his ever expanding waistline, the 3 players had no chance of reaching Ollie. Just call him Charlie Boohrman, The Long Way Round.)Anyway, Ollie ran over the line, then decided to go under the post and ended up dropping the ball.....

Daz Bradburn had some strong carries and brought a renewed injection of physicality into the game on 55 minutes. Adrian .... also came on with Tom Thornton Replacing Dave Talbot at Full back, and instantly showing him how to do it at 15.. Scoring a try with a run through every opposition player on the pitch from a deep clearance kick.

After the game, Captain Dave Talbot admitted that Full back was neither his Choice of position nor a strong point of his, but with such a strong squad, he was just happy to be part of such a fantastic squad..

Sorry if you all expected a proper match report... Final score 59-17 to Loughborough. Great Performance by everyone, Colts especially well done for fitting in so fast.

Oakham may have left defeated, but they showed some real quality and are a top bunch of lads...

Top of the Table with a game in hand boys... in the words of current F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel. " Remember these times guys, Remeber them and enjoy them" ... Drink it in!
