Loughborough fielded a true 3rd XV for the first time in maybe 5 years which featured many ‘old boys’ alongside some much younger, new-to-rugby players. Loughborough’s starting front row calculated they had a total age of over 150!
East Leake took the fixture very seriously including kicking penalty kicks for goal, which led to some very deserved shouts at them from the sideline. The students in their team will soon learn what social rugby means! These six points were all that separated the sides in the end for a 21-27 result.
In the end the real winner was rugby, with a full clubhouse and a massive range of players mixing together which is what it is all about.
The next 3rd XV fixtures being worked on are 3rd Dec, for the Christmas party day, and 18th Feb for the rearranged Birstall 1st XV home game.
