The best way to keep up to date with Loughborough Dynamo FC

Peter Reviews Last Week of the 2017-18 Season

2 months ago By John Bryson

Loughborough Dynamo Manager Peter Ward has looked back at the last week of the 2017-18 season.

Of the Leicestershire FA Challenge Cup Final against Coalville Town on Tuesday April 24th, which was won by Coalville 7-6 on penalties, after the match finished all square at 2-2, Peter said "I was proud of my players on the night. We had a depleted squad, but we dominated the second half, a fact Coalville Manager Tommy Brookbanks acknowledged after the game. We just couldn't get the deciding goal, and once a game goes to penalties then it can go either way".

The following Saturday Dynamo completed their league programme with a 3-2 away win at Alvechurch, who had already secured promotion as runners-up in the division. Peter said "This wasn't a promoted side going through the motions. Alvechurch fielded a strong side and went for the win. We scored some good goals and deserved all three points.

"Overall, I would say this had been a positive season. We have finished fourteenth of twenty-two clubs, six places and fifteen points better off than at the end of the 2016-17 season".
