Both sides were tentative from kick off and could not string a decent move together. The hosts relied on a big old fashioned centre forward, Jason Bradley and he was a danger. Dynamo were strangely unable to string passes together. Young Keeper Kahil Mann Kler was not troubled until their twenty eighth minute when he produced a magnificent reflex save to deflect Andy Gascoigne's instinctive shot following a corner. The pitch cut up and the players battled hard but it was, in truth, a turgid first half, territorially dominated by the home side and it was thirty eight minutes before Dynamo had a chance but Jamie Clarke's clipped shot flew high and wide as he aimed for the top corner.
The second half saw Dynamo up their tempo and start to take the game to the home side. But they too struggled to get a clear sight of goal but on fifty nine minutes Shawn Richards surged into the area and was clearly felled by Gascoigne and it was a penalty to Dynamo. Clarke struck the ball low to the left but keeper Josh Mimms produced a great save to keep it out and an even better one to block the follow-up
shot. Minutes later Richards got in a cross which was half cleared out to Karl Noble but Mimms dived and held the volleyed shot. It was bit end to end for a while, the dangerous Richards was put through by Dan Henton, but his shot was blocked. Luke Edwards came on and on and in the seventy eighth minute Henton and Clarke combined to find him in the area but his low shot was well held by Mimms. Bradley for the visitors was robbed by Jake Betts
as he looked likely to score and Mann-Kler was called into to action to save from Connor Higginson. Danny Jenno went on a run passed to Karl Noble and Edwards just failed to get to the cross and it passed across the 6 yard box. There was a scramble as Sam Young defended well to clear a cross but it bounced off a forward and was cleared. The home side crafted a great chance after good interplay down the right left Dan Williams with a clear header from 8 yards but he headed it wide of an almost open goal. Dynamo continued to press forward but were almost undone at the death when Williams got on the end of a long ball and ran clear through but dragged his shot wide.
Not a great result, not a great performance but I thought that both sets of central defenders were very solid and deserve some credit and perhaps the tension got to the players.
Normally a draw would be a decent result at Sheffield, and both sides felt that they could have won the game, there is still much to play for.
