Dynamo share the points
A Danny Gibbons strike five minutes into time added on ensured Dynamo a share of the points in their first home game of the season.
Romulus had the better of the opening period and Dynamo had to repel a series of attacks and failed to hold the ball when they went forward. This was partially of Dynamo’s own making when, much to the dismay of their bench, they began hitting long balls that the Romulus defenders dealt with comfortably. Romulus got their reward in the sixteenth minute when a forward ball went through a square Dynamo defence and Marcus Brown ran onto it and placed the ball past Kahil Mann-Kler to put the visitors ahead.
Dynamo’s first attack of note arrived in the twenty-first minute, a neat passing move down the left released Ash Way who whipped in a low cross, but Scott Mooney was unable to connect with the ball as it flashed across the face of the Romulus goal. Play then went from end to end but neither keeper was troubled, with shots either going wide or hit from long range.
With three minutes of the half remaining Dynamo should have equalised when an incisive move on the right resulted in Way hitting a shot that James Wren did well to block, the rebound falling to Way but his second effort was cleared off the line by the Romulus defence.
Dynamo had two chances in the opening period but both Way’s and Mooney’s efforts went wide. Romulus should have increased their lead in the fifty-fifth minute when Danny Gibbons slipped and left Ashley Jackson one on one with Mann-Kler, but Jackson blinked first, fired in the shot and Mann-Kler saved. With time running out Dynamo pushed men forward and twice Romulus looked to have caught them on the break, but again Mann-Kler stood firm and the shots were saved.
Just has Romulus thought they must have secured all three points, a final push from Dynamo ended with the ball being half cleared to Gibbons who, from twenty five yards out, smashed the ball into the back of the Romulus net for a deserved equaliser.
