Dynamo in five goal romp
After struggling on their travels this season, Loughborough Dynamo recorded their second away win in succession.
After a 1-0 away win at fellow strugglers Rugby Town last Saturday to complete a league double, Dynamo went to another of the fellow relegation strugglers and achieved another league double. This time is was at Northwich Victoria, Dynamo romping to a 5-1 win, with Ash Hodgkinson scoring a hat trick in the space of twelve second half minutes.
Dynamo opened the scoring in the thirty-fourth minute. Karl Demidh, on his return from a two game suspension, picked up a long ball on the right hand edge of the Northwich penalty area, then cut in and held off two challenges before slotting the ball home.
Northwich equalised just before half time. In the forty-third minute an inswinging centre was met beyond the far post by Yaw Gyimah who headed home to send the two sides into the half time break level at 1-1.
The scores remained level until the sixty-ninth minute, when Dynamo scored four times in fifteen minutes. Jack Beckett worked his way in from the Dynamo right into the Northwich penalty area. Beckett's cross shot was turned into his own net by Adam Lawrence who was trying to clear with two Dynamo players behind him waiting for the ball.
Hodgkinson then scored the first of his three goals when, in the seventh-second minute, a long ball caught out the Northwich defence. After his initial header was blocked, Hodgkinson followed up to net.
Two minutes later it was 4-1 to Dynamo. The referee played good advantage to allow a Dynamo move to continue, the ball eventually being pulled back from the goal line and Hodgkinson turned the ball home.
Dynamo's fifth, and Hodgkinson's third, came in the eighty-third minute when he headed home at the far post from a right wing centre, to record Dynamo's best win of a difficult season.
