Brighouse Town 3 - DYNAMO 1
Following their first win of the new season (scoring 4 goals), Dynamo were looking forward to their first visit to Brighouse Town.
The game kicked off in the pouring rain but the early exchanges were scrappy, though Karl Demidh twice released Josh Riley wide on the right but each time his cross into the box was held by home keeper Jordan Porter. The busy midfields battled hard but on 21 minutes Brighouses’ tricky number 11, Finn Donovan, carved out a chance but fired his shot into the side netting from 12 yards out. Eight minutes later, the same player took a pass from Iwan Heeley and released Aaron Martin who rounded keeper Jason Alexander to fire home past the covering Carl Sibson.
Dynamo responded, forcing a corner, which was headed back by centre half Luke Foster, and eventually reached Riley, on the right; He beat his man but his low cross was cleared to safety. It became scrappy again, Dynamo could just not get their passing game going but they restricted the home side until the last minute of the half; When a mishit back pass was chased by Donovan, the ball somehow broke to Thomas Haigh, who coolly slotted the ball home from 10 yards out to put the home side 2 goals up.
It got worse! the home side took just 2 minutes to score after the break; Thomas Robinson, unmarked, firing home to make it 3-0. It looked all over. In the 50th minute, Karl Demidh, following a corner, cut in from the left but his left foot shot was saved by Porter. One minute later, Martin worked an opening only to see his shot well saved by Dynamo’s Alexander.
Dynamo’s management made a double tactical substitution in the 23rd minute; Bringing on Ryan Robbins (for his first game for the Club) and Luke Thorogood: They replaced Sam Birks and Paulo Piliero. Eight minutes later, Dynamo made their final substitution, bringing on Jordan Wilson for Jared Holmes, thus giving Dynamo a front three for the final 30 minutes.
One minute later Thorogood got back to head clear another cross from Donovan. But, slowly Dynamo got into the game.
Robbins, Danny Gordon and Thorogood began to look threatening. Perhaps the home side relaxed but on 72 minutes Dynamo forced 2 corners which caused the home side problems. 2 minutes later, a truly quality pass from Thorogood picked out Riley’s run into the area but a truly quality save by Porter prevented the goal.
But Dynamo got their goal in the 78th minute. And it was a beauty, Gordon went on a great run down the left and he picked out Robbins on the right of the area who drilled a low shot into the far corner. Robbins had a vicious cross which was deflected for a corner which cleared; Dynamo pushed but on 88 minutes the home side broke quickly and had a three on two but squandered the opportunity without getting in a shot; There was time for Riley to battle and rob a defender but his shot was deflected for a fruitless corner, and it was all over for Dynamo.
