by playing Loddon, just this time at Hobarts school. Both teams were looking for a victory, Loddon sitting comfortably mid table with Railway looking to lift themselves further from the bottom of the table. Railway made a few foraging runs into the Loddon half testing the Loddon defence. It was one of these runs into the defence that saw Megan Mckinnon pick the ball up at the top of the D and push it over the line to put the visitors 1-0 up. This was the wake up call that Loddon needed and the pressure was all on the visitors. The Railway back 4 of Hayley Dowe
, Jo Beare
, Katy Harris
& Kerry Parlane were called upon to keep Loddon at bay. Parlane cleared the ball to Alice Oldman
who knocked it straight to waiting Lily Raven
who turned out her performance of the season as she caused worry for the Loddon defenders. Raven took the ball into the D only to be turned away by the Loddon keeper time & time again. Railway were not playing their usual well controlled passing game and it was this that caused them to lose the ball for Loddon to equal the score line. Half time ended 1-1.
The second half saw much of the same play with neither team able to penetrate each others D. Railway had a couple of missed chances when they were awarded short corners, Germaine Woods shot on goal just being an agonising inch wide of hitting the backboard.
Loddon too unable to find the back of the net due to the tight defending of the back 4. Railway having to settle for a draw to give them just 1 more point. Both teams played a very good natured game with the umpires both commenting on the fairness of play. Weel done Railway and let build on the last few performances of the season for next year.
Kerry Parlane put out a fine performance in her last game for Railway as she retires at the end of the season due to injury.
